Who requires approval to export Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC)?
- Individuals and businesses exporting refrigerants, fire suppression agents, fumigants, solvents, and other chemicals controlled under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer must request permission to export these regulated chemicals.
What documentation needs to be submitted with export approval applications?
- A signed, completed application form.
- A copy of the quotation, pro-forma invoice or invoice related to the shipment
- An import licence from the importing/consignee country
How should the application be submitted?
- Application forms for export approval may be accessed via the Ozone Programme’s website https://ozone.gov.bb/ or via the link: https://barbados.seamlessdocs.com/f/ODS_HFC_Export
What is the duration of the review process?
- The ODS and HFC Management Programme would review and respond to unproblematic applications within 5 working days of receipt of the request
How long is the ODS and HFC Management Programme approval valid?
- Approvals granted by the ODS and HFC Management Programme are valid for three (3) months following the date of issuance
- If the export licence issued by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) expires (or will expire) prior to the export of the shipment, a new application for approval to export must be submitted to the Ozone Programme, if the previous approval has also expired
- Approvals cannot be extended, if an approval expires a new application must be submitted to the Ozone Programme
- Each shipment requires a separate application for approval.
